SSS ID Application Horror Story

I received this comment from my  SSS ID Application Walkthrough post and I want to highlight this story because so far, this is the worst experience anyone can have for just applying for the infamous SSS ID as commented on the post.

Wow. You made it sound so easy to apply for the SSS ID card. Although the step by step process is correct, the actual is not even close.

I had been an active contributing member of SSS since 2002. The online information is really helpful, but when you go to the branch, it is a complete opposite – some of the staff seem to be easily irritated when asked for information.

Last 2004, I decided to apply for an ID card in Lapu-lapu Branch. I had actually completed the process and kept my claim slip for more than 6 months. I didn’t ask why it takes 6 months to get your ID; I assumed that they never ran out of members who process the ID card everyday of the week.

After 7 months, I came back to claim the ID card. Lapu-lapu Branch Information booth is manned by security guards. When I showed my claim slip dated May 2004, he checked his notebook for names, then he instructed me to go back next month. He said, most of the time it takes more than 6 to 7 months for IDs to be available.

I returned on March 2005 to check again if my ID card is available. The guard on the information booth told me I should file a complaint. I filled up the form and submitted to the information desk. Of course, I didn’t expect for any answers considering they don’t have any customer service to handle that.

A few days ago, after checking the internet again and registered to a new user friendly SSS website, I decided to process my ID card. I was informed by my colleague that Lapu-lapu Branch does not accept processing for ID Cards as of the moment because their machine is not functioning. She told me she was instructed to go to the Cebu City Branch.

Last Thursday, January 22, I went to the Cebu City Branch and arrived there at 9 am. After going thru a long line, the lady in the information desk just handed us a blank application form and instructed us to come back tomorrow. There had been no further explanation after she pointed to me the advisory on the table that there is no priority numbers for processing IDs.

I arrived at 8:30am on Friday, January 23. I thought I was lucky because the line was shorter. When it was my turn, I handed the completed form with a smile, but his face went from pleasant to funny. He told me the ID processing is over and he summoned the next person in line. Surprised with the information, I asked what time do they start the processing. He explained that they only accept 160 members for processing and there is no priority number, you just have to fall in line. He said they start at 7am.

Considering that I have to take a leave from work and wake up earliest in the morning just to travel from one City to another, the SSS staff’s simple explanation feels ridiculous to me. I had to walk out of there to calm me down before I yell to his face that I had to take a day off from my very busy work just to be rejected on 2 consecutive days because I didn’t know their schedules and rules.

SHOULDN’T HAVE THEY POSTED THAT ON THEIR BULLETIN BOARD THAT THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT 160 MEMBERS IN THE MORNING STARTING AT 7AM?

WHY WOULD THEY ACCEPT ONLY 160 MEMBERS A DAY?

ARE THEY NOT CAPABLE OF ENTERTAINING MORE THAN THAT NUMBER?

If anyone reading this, I hope you have a good explanation so I may understand.

Also, I would encourage everyone to send in their complaints against SSS. The more horror, the better and I will post them. If we’ve collected a substantial number of complaints and issues, perhaps someone would notice.

Even I who started working since 2002 still does not have an ID, because my co-employees told me that mandaue and lapu2x city doesnt accept any applicant for the ID. and i have to apply in the Cebu City branch. and here’s the Ridiculous part I have to be there by 4:00 in the morning. meaning i have to wake up by 3:00 just to be there and wait for 4 freakin hours till 8:00 opening of the office for the distribution of the Priority number.

    WHAT???? 4 HOURS???? Jesus Mary and Joseph!

    Only in the Philippines. They just don’t care on our inconvenience.

    Damn! may lightning strike their Houses.

  6. well, ako rin nmn everytime i go there and ask for some info, di ako lagi satisfy. di ba dapat marunong silang humarap sa lahat ng tao kc mga government employee sila, mga public servant sila, meaning lahat ng info na i-a-ask ntin sa kanila importante and they should satisfied us in able for us to know better every details. pero di ganun ang nangyayari, parang lagi silang nagmamadali then sila pa galit pag di ka agad umalis sa harap nila… sana may magsabi sa kanila kung pano humarap sa tao kasi ngingitian mo sila ng bonggang-bongga tapos susungitan kalang, di ba nakaka bad trip un…

    sa lapu-lapu din ako nag-file ng loan last Nov. 11, 2009, sabi ng officer doon na 2 to 3 week lang ma-tangap ko na ang loan ko, pero hangang ngayon mag-isang buwan na wala pang dumating! tang-ina tong tag-sss.

    tumawag ako sa phone nila para follow-up, pero sabi ng attendant nila mag-file nalang ako ng complaint.. waaaaaa…ano bayan..

    kung di ko matangap yong loan ko within this year, pasabogin ko yang office nila sa Lapu2x!!!!

  11. most of there complain is right. iam a ofw worker i had 45 day to stay Philippiness. i appled my SSS id Dec. 2010 after 3 Months i us my sister to Claim it in San Fernanada Pampangga with my Authorization Letter and my Passport copy. my Sister when there they told her to claim it afer one year. for ID it take a year my god this to much to wait……..PLs. we had to do somethings about this matter to all SSS members.

    I’m a family man and a busy person. So every minute and money counts.
    We are one of the families affected by Typhoon Ondoy and I decided to have my first ever loan with SSS after 6yrs of contributions. Few years back I tried to request for an ID in Kapitolyo, Pasig Branch and got no luck because line was so long and I was busy so I just returned back last year because of my Typhoon Ondoy needs. They said, ID application is no longer available in their branch so they referred me to go to SSS Main Office in Quezon City, so I did. Thank God, line is not that long than I expected BUT they said my account doesn’t have (DOC – Date of Coverage) where I was referred back to the branch to rectify the issue so I did. Back to Kapitolyo Branch after a long wait in line for General Information, they said my first (6)contributions was incorrectly paid by my previous employer as self-employed so to rectify the issue the said contributions should be deleted or refunded and that I should write a letter requesting and authorizing them to do so. They are about to close so I returned back the following day with the said letter but the representative said my issue can’t be resolved by just a letter and I was reffered to their Legal Department. The said legal department bitch enjoyed eating and flirting over the phone while trying to assist me. She said that my previous company had a case vs SSS and that I should wait for the case to end before I can submit a letter requesting deletion or refund of my first (6)contributions. What the?!

    After a long run a round, travelling back and forth and waiting in a long line.. I still have to wait for the case to end which we all know will take years.. And what? story to be continued? another long process? I am also looking for the right government department where I can file a complaint against SSS.. It is our contributions, our money and we have the right to loan and have it in timely manner.

      you know what… ung file ko na disability for my mother (last year) till now wala pa rin result. they keep saying na i-follow up nalng pero ang sabi nung nag-file ako nun one month lang ang process..grabe talaga…imbis na mgamit un parng nababali wala eh….GRABE TALAGA..ang dali mag hulog pero pag klngan mo na, pahihirapan ko ng sobra-sobra…..

  14. hay naku ako din kaya yung SSS i.d ko inapply ko nung July 2010 then they told me that i can get my i.d on the first week of January 2011, after verifying my I.D they told me na di pa daw ready…what kind of answer is that? tapos nakasimangot pa mga employees ng SSS, is this the way how they treat their clients? ayusin niyo naman po trabaho niyo mga taga SSS kasi sumasahod naman siguro kayo ng maayos…and Unfortunately, up to this date wala pa rin ang aking SSS i.d…i wanted to apply for a maternity pero sabi ba naman need daw nila ng I.D, anong gagawin ko kasalanan ko ba na ang I.D ko eh di niyo pa po nirerelease?
